Campaigns

Bulk texting lives in the Campaigns tab. Your first campaign needs an active number (Reports → Numbers) or a submitted registration. Until then, Ready sends you to get a number first. Set your opt-out line and business name in Settings → Compliance, and Ready adds them to your messages.

Click New campaign (on a new account, Send your first campaign) to open the 4-step campaign builder. Name the campaign at the top. Save draft lets you finish later. The footer shows Step X of 4 with Back / Continue, so you can review before anything sends.

  1. Who are you texting? Pick Smart lists or Filters, or click Import CSV in Smart lists to upload a file. The count at the top leaves out anyone who opted out or can't be texted.
  2. What are you sending? Write the opening message. Your opt-out line and business name are already in it. Click + Add a follow-up step for another message that waits hours, days or weeks after the one before.
  3. When should it go out? Pick Now, or Schedule a date, time and time zone. To spread out a big send, switch on Drip texts over time and set texts per hour or per day.
  4. Ready to launch? Check recipients, messages, timing and estimated cost. Tick the consent box (you can't launch without it), then click Launch campaign or Schedule campaign. You'll see "Campaign is live" once it's on its way.
Details
  • Import CSV: drop a CSV, Excel or PDF file with a phone column. The people are added to your Contacts with phone, name, email and company.
  • Smart lists: a saved list from Contacts.
  • Filters: describe who to text and click Find them, or click + Add condition (tag, city, state, area code, source, dates, custom fields and more). No conditions means all your contacts.
  • Message tools: {··} Fields adds merge fields like {{first_name}}, Templates loads a saved message, Images attaches a picture. To remove the opt-out line or business name you have to type I UNDERSTAND.
  • Send from: leave it on Automatic so Ready picks a local number for each contact.

Before you launch

  • Texting hours. Texts only go out between 8am and 9pm in each recipient's local time (8pm in a few states). If you send a one-message campaign while some contacts are outside those hours, Ready holds their text and sends it at 8am their time, as long as the message is still current. On the review step you can pick Skip them instead.
  • Balance. Turn on Auto-rebill before a big send. If your balance can't cover everyone, only part of the list is sent.
  • Follow-ups. A campaign with two or more messages launches as a Sequence. Follow-ups go to everyone in it, including people who replied. Anyone who texts STOP gets nothing more.
  • Images work on every message, follow-ups too, once you've submitted registration. Price: see Billing.
  • Links. Use your own full web address. Link shorteners like bit.ly and tinyurl are blocked.
  • Blank merge fields. If some contacts have no value for a field you used, Ready asks first. Click Send anyway to send with the blank, or Cancel to fix it.

After you launch

The Campaigns list shows each campaign's recipients, delivery rate, replies and status, live while it sends. Click a sent campaign to see Delivered, Failed, Replies and Skipped (opt-outs and landlines removed before sending). Replies land in the Inbox.

Details

The ⋮ menu on a row lets you Pause, Resume, Unschedule (back to a draft), Stop (can't be undone), Duplicate, Rename, move it to a folder, or Delete it.

From a sent campaign you can send to the people who missed it, Add recipients, Change pace, Add steps, or Duplicate & send again. Load a saved message with Templates on the message step.

Best practice: keep follow-up sequences to 3 to 5 messages. After 5 texts with no reply, more messages rarely convert and can increase opt-outs.
